Feathers are Out…
It’s my personal opinion
that feathers are “out” this year. They
just don’t provide that sheik, professional look. That is unless you’re cross-dressing as a
peacock and then I guess they’re acceptable. I personally don’t think they do
anything for angels either even though there are a bunch of pictures floating
around this old world that depict these folks with big-assed feathered
wings. And no, we don’t need to spend a
bunch of time discussing why angels are presented this way. Geez, if heaven is “up” and we’re “down” the
only way to get from there to here is to fly, huh? This concept was obviously developed long
before the advent of the space shuttle – or airplanes for that matter. But to
be fair about it though, some of the pictures are pretty cool.
OK, so if feathers are out –
does this mean “angels” are out too?
Here’s old Gene’s thoughts about the inhabitants of that mysterious
place we call “heaven”. (For those of
you who really have received your personalized video from heaven.com and know
absolutely for certain what and who is “there”, ya really oughtta consider
sharing with the rest of us…)
In my opinion, there’s not a
single thing that’s very mysterious about heaven. Oh sure, it’s completely speculation but when
you get right down to it most (all?) of this spiritual-type stuff is. That’s part of what makes it fun to think
about. Soooo – I think… the folks we
call angels are nothing more than just natural inhabitants of this other
existence we commonly refer to as heaven.
They are as normal there as you and I are here.
What do they “look”
like? (Man, it’s difficult to get away
from our existence’s references and personal sensory paraphernalia…) Well, I’m imagining them as individual globs
of glowy, shimmering energy. And it’s
probably not so much of a “look like” thing as it is a “feel like” or an
internal perception thing. I would imagine that somehow they are easily
identifiable as separate, individual entities. I’m also guessing that if we could examine the
total spirit (angel, whatever…) population, we would find a wide range of
“intelligence”, wisdom and awareness of self and relationship to the “system”. Hmmm, sounds a lot like here, doesn’t it?
Maybe I’m getting a bit too
sci-fi here but I’d also bet that some form of telepathy would be the normal
method of communication. It just seems
like the easy way to do it. Moving from
point A to point B could be a simple matter of “thinking” or willing the
movement – which is probably not a “movement” at all but more a matter of
rematerializing at a different location.
For those of you who are
thinking that I’m as goofy as a penguin in heat, consider this. We are so accustomed to thinking in terms of
our existence and environment that we loose the ability – and even the desire –
to consider possibilities of situations (or existences) that are considerably different
from ours. If you’ve read some of my
previous blogs you’ll remember that one of the main reasons I’m doing this is
to promote thinking and positive questioning of the concepts that we have been
programmed to believe are reality. This
applies not only to our personal lives but also to our total environment and
our relationship with our environment - spirituality included.
So is it possible that heaven’s
just another existence (set of dimensions if you prefer) and that its
inhabitants are just hunks of intelligent energy? Of course it’s possible! It that the way it is? Who the hell knows? None of us silly humans – that’s for sure.
But what if it were
reality? And what if we – you and I –
were in reality just one of those hunks of energy (“spirits”) whose permanent
home address is somewhere back on the “other side”. Is it possible that we’re just another one of
the zillion or so inhabitants of this other world – and that we’re now here on
earth temporarily to get a few more smarts? It’s possible…
Why were we created in the
first place? Who knows! My guess is that it has something to do with
love. That seems to be a logical
ingredient for a foundation for our existence.
Maybe God’s (higher power, etc.) whole purpose for the creation is to
produce an unimaginable, unlimited quantity of love and decided he could do
this by creating a whole bunch of entities that could generate this love. And I say that fully realizing that I may be
over-humanizing God’s qualities. With my
limited reference, I think it’s an understandable thing to do.
Or maybe instead, the
production of new entities is just a natural part of the system – if indeed any
new “spirits” are being created. Maybe we’ve
all always existed. We’re so accustomed to using time as a reference that we have a
tendency to get stuck in this mode of thinking.
In this world, most things seem to have a definitive start point. In our case, there’s also a specific stop
point – that time when we cease to exist in human form. A different world wouldn’t have to work that
way. Many folks who believe in some type
of God also believe that he has always existed.
If we are all an integral part of this total love, wisdom & power,
it could be possible that we’ve individually always existed too. Why?
Beats me! Maybe there’s no all-encompassing reason at all. Even though I’m a big one for promoting
thinking, sometimes I think we humans tend to put too much effort into finding
the reasons for or logic behind situations.
Maybe there are times we should just let it go and realize that some
things “are” just because that’s the way it is – period.
When you get right down to
it, it really doesn’t make a fat rat’s behind if we’ve always existed (as
spiritual entities) or if we were created on the fly so to speak (go ahead –
work on that angel image for a minute). We exist – and I’m happy believing that we likely
exist mainly as spiritual individuals and that we’re just here on earth for a
short while in some really strange, yet interesting animal bodies.
